subaru graphics : Who has been saying that NFL2K1 looks better than Madden, in ANY mode?I finally got to do a head to head comparison of both games, and I amcurious where anyone would think that NFL2K1 looked better, fromgraphics to player animation (Madden's players look like they move morenaturally). It doesn't in my opinion.Now, I am not going to get into gameplay, just what the games look likenow. NFL2K1 is a great football game (I have it), but just curious whyanyone, but a fanboy, would think it looked better than Madden. Maybewhen we all have progressive-scan HDTVs, VGA output on a game console willmatter more than it does now.At this point, however, I'm under the impression that most people playvideo games in their family/living rooms, and that most computers arelocated elsewhere (den or bedroom). Obviously, there are exceptions. Kidswho have game systems hooked up to smaller TVs in their bedrooms and such.So, if my impressions are correct, there is no computer monitor handy inthe "videogaming area" necessitating either that the monitor be broughtover to said area, or that the gaming system be moved to the computermonitor.

I think you'll agree with me that VGA adoption bythe end-user is NOT going to happen en masse at this time, simply becauseit is not convenient for the end-user to adopt the technology.People who play on larger-screen TVs won't have space readily availablefor setting up a progressive-scan monitor, and the people who play inbedrooms where the monitor IS available would rather use the money towardsthe purchase of another game.I applaud Sega for pushing VGA support into so many of its titles, but Ithink it's wasted effort here in the U.S. because the market is not readyfor it.So to say that NFL2K1 (or Soul Calibur) has better graphics because itsupports a high-resolution mode that hardly anyone will use because youneed to spend extra money (if only to buy the VGA cable or converter box)to utilize is akin to saying Subaru's cars have superior traction becausetheir models include All Wheel Drive hardware that you have to pay extrafor.

subaru graphics : If you're using S-Video or component video, you are not watching NTSC.Based on the fact that VF2 for Saturn (hooked up to my TV via thecomposite video cables) managed to display crisp, clean graphics (if lowon polygon count) in spite of the blur introduced by interlacing, I'mgoing to have to disagree with you on this.Besides, with S-video connections on TVs allowing over 400 lines ofresolution with better color saturation than composite video, I'd arguesimply on principle that TVs ARE capable of displaying great graphicscomparable to that of a computer monitor.At least, my eyes tell me that the S-video picture output to my TV from myDVD player is not significantly worse than the same picture on mycomputer (20" TV vs. 17" monitor, if you must know).No, I think I gave a valid rationalization why VGA output isn't a validchoice for your average DC owner.
