subaru dealers : We were afraid that we would be pushed to buy a lot of high-priced"extras", but the only recommendation they made was to put on theplastic stone guard on the front of the hood to help keep down stonechips.I have no connection with Carter Subaru, except as an *extremely*satisfied customer. We had looked at Outbacks a day or two before inPuyallup, and only wanted to drive the 5-speed (which they didn't havereadily available in Puyallup at the time). Within a couple of hours ofarriving we werew writing a check and contacting our insurance agent, and getting some boxes to clean out our old car. We drove the Subaruoff the lot the same day, and have had absolutely no regrets about theway we were treated or the price we paid. And yet another vote for Carter. We bought a used Suby at Chaplins(Bellevue). After a week, it stopped running well, sometimes at all, sometimes fine. I've worked on cars quite a bit and immediately recognizedthe problem as either a fuel filter or fuel pump problem. We got the cartowed back to Chaplins and described the problem. They couldn't find anythingwrong, so I told the service manager very specifically to check the fuelfilter. They claimed to have done that and still didn't find anything wrong.

subaru dealers : The car broke down on the 5, and was towed to Carter. They diagnosed it (as aclogged and broken fuel filter) and fixed it in less than two hours. I nevereven spoke to them, and my mate didn't remember what I thought the problem wasuntil they told her what they fixed.--- To reply, remove the spam-protectors (deletethis, ignorethis) from my 'From:' line ---I failed to mention in my recomendation for Carter, that I bought aMustang GT some years back from thier Ford Dealer, I don't recall theactual name as it was the only vehicle I ever purchased from said dealerand I believe it no longer exists. I was a teenager then and they treatedme with the utmost respect. I was not even eighteen and legally could notmake the purchase myself, so I spent a week going around to Ford dealersall around the Seattle/Metro area. They were the most helpful and the onlyone that took me seriously as well as the only one that let me test drivethe car. I only kept the car for a short while before trading it in atCarter Volkswagen where I was also treated with the utmost respect. Iguess what I'm saying is if you don't buy a Subaru, I recomend you stickwith the Carter Group. Failing they have a model you're looking for Istrongly recomend the Huling Group in West Seattle, though they do notsell Subaru, they sell many other makes and have also treated me verywell. Thier Buick service department did warranty work on a Trans Am fromout of state for me without the slightest problem or worry.Oh and back to Carter, If you have any problems with your car, they arethe home of the hassle free loaner car.

subaru dealers : "I am one hell of a guy, I can do anything I want only I just don't have the faintest idea what."Let me echo the recommendation for Carter in general, and Joe Spitz inparticular. I bought my Subaru just under a year ago. Of my four car purchases over the past fifteen years, this was by far the most pleasantexperience. I can't say that the price was any better or worse than the earlier purchases, but Joe is the only one I would return to for another. When shopping around, I also hit the right salespeople in Puyallup, and at Chaplin's in Bellevue, but the wrong three guys at Kirkland. Severalother dealships fell in the neutral middle. A coworker who later went toChaplin missed my prefered saleswoman and got jerked around by someone else. I haven't yet dealt with the shop enough to know whether or not I'lllike them any better than the Honda and Acura shops for my older cars, both of which have done very well. But it has easily done better thanthe several local shops that handled my now-expired Ford.

subaru dealers : He suggested this for me too, which I was considering anyway becauseof the severe rock blasting built up over years of winter travel on my previous cars. Without his suggestion, I would have added it within a few weeks. If you don't travel out of town much in winter, this will not be as important. Same here, except that Joe (along with many other salespeople) does pay a small bird-dog fee for referrals that result in a sale. But he didn't say what happens if you get referred by multipleprevious customers. Thanks to everyone for their Subaru recommendations. I am muchbetter informed now for when I venture out next year.-- Debbie the Gruesome * Killfiling idiots since 1989 * "I'm not crazy, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years." _Steel Magnolias_ * I do not do business with spammers. * This post copyrighted 1998.Carter Subaru is where you wanna go. I've heard nothin but goodexperiences with them. In addition to which, around here, you really wanta Subaru Outback.
