I've heard that SOA customers have beengetting calls for a while now, I guess Subaru Canada is just a littlebehind. I put my name in fairly early, way before the Detroit auto show,but I had been wondering lately whether I was going to get it - especiallywhen I heard of others putting deposits down at multiple dealers.The call may not be a guarantee of delivery but at least they haven'tforgotten about me.Don't sweat-it the car will be here before you know it. So, what color?wheels?It is funny, we talked once before about how are perceptions change, mineare changing. I bought my WRX in September, 2002 and you still cannot wipethe smile off my face when I drive it. I wake up happier to goto workknowing I am going to drive my car in a little bit. I had no hint of thetotal satisfaction diminishing until the specs for the NA STi came out. Nowwhen I hit the throttle and think wahoo! a little voice tells me yeah it'squick but it is not as fast as the STi. Maybe I have reached my 'tolorance'and I need a little more to make me 'feel' good again. Is this howaddictions start?
subaru canada : Speaking of feeling good-- it is snowing here now ,10:40est 02/06/03, andjust came in from playing in my car. 40mph 2nd gear sliding through somelong sweeping turns-- it was a blast.WR Blue with Gold Wheels - as close to the WRC as I could get!I thought about going the sleeper route but with that rear wing what's thepoint? I couldn't hide that thing if I tried.I'm totally envious of the control and traction the AWD vehicles have inpoor weather. I have a 4wd Durango but it's the wife's main vehicle and Irarely get to drive it to work. I've been trying to drive as slow aspossible this winter so that I don't have to buy new tires for my currentcar. The specs on the STi show that it comes with 'performance' tires -this generally means 'summer only' tires. So I don't want to have to buywinter tires two years in a row.I was driving to work a few days ago in my normally asperated piece of sh*twhen I found that I was on a road with tons of black ice - about 2-3 milesof it in sections of the road that looked like beads. The local worksdepartment had made the situation worse by using sand instead of salt - itwas like putting marbles on ice. I'm not sure how an AWD vehicle would haveperformed under those conditions but it must have been better than mycurrent car that literally had to crawl through the problem area at a snailspace to come out unscathed.

(Sept. 27/2001) - Tom McGeer, currently the dominantdriver in Canadian rallying, heads to the Georgian Bay region of Ontariothis weekend hoping to clinch his fifth national championship title.The Rally of the Voyageurs, based out of Parry Sound, takes place onSaturday (Sept. 29) and will be the sixth round of the eight-eventSubaru Canadian Rally Championship, presented by Yokohama.McGeer has won four of the five rallies so far this year in his400-horsepower Subaru Impreza WRX. In the overall championshipstandings, he has a 42-point lead (80-38) over his Subaru Canadateam-mate Pat Richard. A win is worth 20, so if he maintains his leadthis weekend, he will take the championship crown.The 41-year-old Georgetown, Ont., driver began rallying in 1985 andpreviously won the Canadian title in 1990, 1992 and 1993, as well as2000 when he started the impressive winning streak which continues tothis day. Going back to July, 2000, he has won eight of the past ninerallies.But McGeer may have stronger competition at the Voyageurs than he hasusually faced recently. He will be up against longtime rival FrankSprongl, who won six Canadian titles between 1991 and 1999, but haslimited his appearances the past two seasons. This will be his firstCanadian rally since February.

TheAudi had a bad misfire when Sprongl and his navigator, brother Dan, tookit to a U.S. rally in July. But Dan says they think the problem is nowcured.The Sprongls, of Mississauga, Ont., won the Voyageurs in 1998 and 1999,while McGeer and his American navigator, Mark Williams, won the eventlast year.While McGeer is well out in front in the championship, the fight forsecond is close. Six points separate the second-through-fifth placeddrivers: Richard, of Vancouver (38), Sylvain Erickson, of Gatineau, Que.(37), Jon Nichols, of Lachine, Que. (34), and John Paynter, of LowerSackville, N.S. (32).Richard drives a 230-hp production class Impreza WRX. Erickson - whowon the Rallye Perce-Neige Maniwaki in February when McGeer had motorproblems - will be back at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer afterdamaging his more powerful Mazda 323 GTR in a recent Quebec provincialchampionship event.Nichols, the newly-crowned Quebec champion, drives an Impreza WRXfrom the Subaru Lachute dealership, while Paynter is the third driver(alongside McGeer and Richard) on the factory-backed Subaru Canada team.
