You should be able to get a well loaded Intrigue GL with leather,12 disc changer, moonroof plus most of the optional equiptment that'sstandard on the Lexus for about $24-25K vs about $34K for a '97 ES300with moonroof, leather and 6 disk CD. The ES300 is still nicer andworth more, but THAT MUCH more???!! You could compare the Intrigue moreclosely to a Camry XLE V6 or LE V6, but I believe it comes out ahead inprice and features there also. It certainly has better styling than aCamry.There probably aren't many out so you might not get much info. Try thelatest issue of Car and Driver. They do an article on Taurus, Camry, andIntrigue and rate it higher than the Ford or Toyota. It's a beautiful car(though you have to already like the Aurora to think so!) The 3800 engineis superb.
oldsmobile intrigue : Hmmm, Car and driver picked the intrigue over the Camry (1point) because ithad more creature comforts. (read interior gadgets). They also said thatthe engine was the weak spot for the car saying it made more noise and"unseemly chuffing and clatter of pushrods from the ancient 90-degreeV-6."Thankfully to be replaced in 98 by a 3.5 liter DOHC V-6.They called the Camry engine "perhaps the finest V-6 production engine inthe world".I've had an Oldsmobile Intrigue experience that anyone consideringthis car should be aware of. I've been looking at a variety of familysedans over the past few months including the following: Avalon,Camry, Intrepid, Taurus, Maxima, Grand Prix, Regal, Century and theIntrigue.Not being a particularly patriotic person, I was hoping to buyAmerican for varied reasons, particularly service ease, partsavailability/pricing, etc. I patiently waited for the Intrigue tofinally show up at my local dealer (spring delivery had slipped intosummer, not a good omen) and took a test drive the day it arrived. Iwas immediately impressed with the way it handled and the tightness ofthe ride. I took it over a twisty road complete with a railroadcrossing to see how well it drove. I can honestly say I enjoyed itmore than any of the candidates in my list above.
oldsmobile intrigue : I own a '99 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL with 7,000 miles on it. I have aproblem that occassionaly occurs. The problem is that the head lightsand the dash lights will dim to half power and then one second laterresume to full power. It will continue to flicker like that until weshut off the car. I have covered the day-time light sensor and itstill dims like that.I've had it in the two different shop three times and they can't figureout the problem. Does anybody have this similar problem with aresolution?I'm willing to bet that you have the 3.5L engine, since this symptom doesnot occur with the 3.8L. Gm engineering is aware of this problem and isworking towards a remedy. The problem is with the PCM controlledalternator. Under certain conditions the PCM will command the alternatoron and off very quickly and you notice the voltage fluctuations that occurvia changes in light intensity and blower motor fan speed. Having been inconstant contact with GM's technical assistance people, I am sure that aPCM update will be available soon to fix this concern.

I can honestly say I enjoyed itmore than any of the candidates in my list above.NOW THE BAD PART: I didn't like the color of the Intrigue I drove atmy local dealer (it was an awful murky metalic silver, I also have an'86 silver Olds whose paint began to blister off about 4 years ago andvowed never to buy another silver GM car) so I proceeded to call a fewother dealers to see what they had. I found a beautiful black withtan interior base model which I took for a test ride and was againimpressed. Although I thought I heard a little road/tire noise whenI drove over some concrete roadway. It was peculiar in that itsounded as though one of the rear windows was slightly open. Iactually pressed the rear window buttons to verify that they were bothclosed (and they were). When I returned to the dealer it was afterclosing time so I didn't have time to closely examine the car. Afterreturning the keys so the salesperson could make a quick exit, I wentback to the car and examined the body panels for alignment. I noticeda slight mis-alignment of the trunk lid where it met the tops of therear quarter panels, particularly at the right front corner of thetrunk lid and I also noticed a HUGE difference in the gap between thebottom edge of the trunk lid and the body under each tail light. Thegap was about 1 inch on the left side and practically touching on theright side!!!! I went back a few days later to take another look atthe car in the daylight. I folded down the rear seat backs and lookedinto the trunk from the passenger compartment and found a HUGE GAP INTHE TRUNK LID SEAL FOR ABOUT 18 INCHES AROUND THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT.YOU COULD SEE DAYLIGHT BETWEEN THE SEAL AND THE TRUNK LID!!!
oldsmobile intrigue : Subject: 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue New car condition, privateownerOur family has a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL. We havegrown out of this car (Minivan bound). This car isthe upscale sister to the Grand Prix. We were goingto trade it in for $15,500, but had second thoughts.It is in new condition with only 23,000 miles. Theengine is the tried and true 3800 V6. The color isSilver Mist Metallic. It has GL package includingclimate control, power seat, power windows, cruisecontrol, heated mirrors, fog lamps, auto head lamps,keyless entry and upgraded stereo/ CD with driversteering wheel touch controls. We have religiouslychanged the oil with Mobile 1 synthetic. This car isdriven by my wife (stay at home mom) and is garagekept. See the attached snapshots.
