lexus soarer : for cruising around in a comfy luxury car then the soarer is great...shit thing is it only comes in auto... and in terms of 0-100 and 1/4times its slower than the commodore :o(... i think its 9s and 16.5respectively... the engine is a quad cam beauty... a nice revy V8.from alot of reports its really really quiet inside so if V8 grumbleis what you want u'll have to chuck an exhaust on...hey where abouts are you looking to import? or r u buying off theused cars here?if ur in melbourne go down to tokyo motors in brayside. They arequite willing to let you test drive the cars so long as you showgenuine interest... *grin*...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmthats difficult really... for the soarer id say they would be quitepricey... there has been a huge flood of imports in recent times...lots ofjapanese car wreckers here...but since the soarers are not asplentiful as the silvias, surfs, etc....id say parts would be on thehigh side... but hey..its a toyota... dont need to worry too muchabout parts heheheehehehhmmm these times were quite consistent with figures i found on the netfrom a variety of sources... it was quite surprising to me as myfriend told me they were quite fast...

lexus soarer : I am trying to find out if the Lexus/Toyota Soarer was ever available in the USA,in particular the 2.5 twin turbo straight six engined model.Also,trying to find out if the straight six in that Soarer was of the same family as any of the Supra straight six engines.I don't think so. I beleive the Soarer is the SC400 here and there is noturbo version of that. Dunno about the rest of your questions..The Soarer is known as the Lexus SC400 or 300 in the states. The 300 has a 3.0liter inline 6 in the USA, and I think it's the same engine as comes in thebase (non-turbo) Supra.If there is a 2.5 turbo, it's not been sold in the USA in the SC400 or 300.In Japan the toyota soarer is a 2 door coupe version of supra. I believethis is nowthe Lexus SC300 and the Toyota Solara.The Soarer is the SC 300/400 here. They have only be available with a V8(400) and straight-6-no turbo (300, same as the Supra's engine)The Toyota Solara uses a V6 engine (the same as the Camry's).[This followup was posted to alt.autos.toyota and a copy was e-mailed to Patrick Shaw]
