lexus gx470 : So, is Toyota going to discontinue the UZJ-100 (US Spec Land Cruiser) in theUnited States????Not bad. I was expecting them to decontent it, and turn it intoa unibody design, but it looks like they did neither. I do worrythat they will upscale it like they did with the Land Cruiser, pricing it much higher. We'll see.I really hope that is not what the new 4 Runner will look like. It lookslike pretty much every other SUV Toyota has, let alone every othermanufacture. That design really doesn't have the 4 Runner Off Road characteristics thatthe 4 Runner has held on too for so long and the main reason I want to buyanother.Does anyone know if they will still have the sport, limited and SR5 modelsor are they going to just one type?I really need to get my downpayment saved up and get a 02 before its toolate.--Car Audio CentralYour Car Audio/Media discussion forum of choiceTo view some Car Audio Installations Click Here"Steven Scharf" wrote in message...Based on a small article I read it will be based on the Toyota Prado whichis available in Europe and Australia. Do an internet search on "ToyotaPrado" and you should get some pic's..
lexus gx470 : Anybody know what is truth about when the 2003 4Runner and GX470 are going to be available? I've seen some newsgroups claiming that the 2003 4Runner (Toyota version of the GX470) will be available early this year. The only information I can find is on the GX470 and indications are that it won't be available until early next year (2003?)Neither the Toyota nor the Lexus websites are talking about 2003 models at all.Damn curious since I am close to buying a 2002 4Runner. I have 2001 LX470 and love the thing. I would much rather buy its little brother if it is going to be available.One of the major car magazines has a strong on the new Lexus SUV. I got theimpression it and the Toyota version where shipping this fall as 2003s.I wouldn't buy a 2002 4Runner as its sucessor appears to seriously outclassit in just about every area save off roading. I myself am patiently waitingfor the GX470 to come out this fall (I have a 99 RX300).I am poised to buy the 2002 today. The reason being I am anticipating the price going up significantly on the 2003 4Runner. I need something to carry the dog around in and go camping with. I'd wait for the 2003 but I think they won't be dealing on these for some time whereas there are some good rebates and discounts now on the 2002. Another petty thing is that based on the pics of the gx470, I think the cool roll down rear window goes away :-( lexus gx470 : Just drove the 470 tonite. Nicely done. However, I would like to stronglyurge you to change the rear cargo door from a swing out to a lift up with anoperational window. Please refer to the 4Runner for details.I live in Chicago, opening that door in a tight parking situation will benearly impossible. If it's raining or snowing, it's nice to have that bigdoor overhead for shelter.How did you like the ride etc, David? Any opinions welcomed. I'm trying toget one to test but they're still few and far between.I've been driving a 4Runner for years that I've been quite happy with. So,that's my frame of reference.The car drives beautifully. The cabin is quiet and the engine noise isalmost non-existent. I started the car in the parking lot and knew theengine was running because I could see the tach registering some rpm's. Soquiet. The drive is quiet too. It's a confident and comfortable ride. Theengine gives a sense of strength over quickness. It does have some get upand go when I punched it. The seats are comfortable and the ergonomics arenice too. I drove a car with Nav and it's nice to have everything availablevia touch-screen. Displays are laid out nicely and the car has plenty ofroom. Didn't fold down the 3rd row seats, but I think it's safe to say thatunless there are children in the picture, or small adults, it's not theplace to sit for an extended road trip. lexus gx470 : From Sun Sep 29 13:10:08 2002Return-Path: Received: from localhost [127.0.0.1]) by jupiter.gwalter.demon.co.uk (8.11.6/linuxconf) with ESMTP id g8TCA7c32050 for Sun, 29 Sep 2002 13:10:08 +0100Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by localhost with POP3 (fetchmail-5.9.0) for (multi-drop); Sun, 29 Sep 2002 13:10:08 +0100 (BST)Received: from punt-1.mail.demon.net by mailstore for id 1033300559:10:19580:17; Sun, 29 Sep 2002 11:55:59 GMTReceived: from [207.124.44.28] ([207.124.44.28]) by punt-1.mail.demon.net id aa1017155; 29 Sep 2002 11:53 GMTFrom: "Editor" Subject: PriceWheels Newsletter: Warranty news, more 0% news, and a new Beetle.Mime-Version: 1.0Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1"Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 19:39:36Message-ID: X-DCC-wanadoo-be-Metrics: jupiter.gwalter.demon.co.uk 1016; Body=0 Fuz1=0 Fuz2=0X-Domains: pstcomputers.com cw.net fnsi.netTo: $munged$ <head> <title>PriceWheels.com Newsletter</title><style TYPE="text/css">a:hover { font-family: Verdana; color: #0099FF; text-decoration: none}.mborder { border: #003366 solid; border-width: 10px 10px 10px 2px}.bodyhead { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 24px; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; color: #99CC00}.body { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 16px}.gborder { border: #99CC00; border-style: dotted; border-top-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px}.bodyGreen { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 16px ; color: #FFFFFF}.unsubscribe { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9px; line-height: 14px} </style> </head> lexus gx470 : <body> <table WIDTH="90%" BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" ALIGN="center" CLASS="mborder" HEIGHT="1407"> <tr> <td BGCOLOR="#7593C5" COLSPAN="2" HEIGHT="76"> <table WIDTH="100%" BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0"> <tr> <td WIDTH="166"><img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="260" HEIGHT="76"></td> <td WIDTH="auto"> <div ALIGN="right"> <img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="202" HEIGHT="76"> </div> </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td BGCOLOR="#99CC00" WIDTH="166" HEIGHT="19"><img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="179" HEIGHT="22"></td> <td BGCOLOR="#99CC00" WIDTH="100%" ALIGN="right" HEIGHT="19"> <div ALIGN="right"> <font COLOR="#003366" SIZE="1" FACE="Verdana">Newsletter: Vol. 1.0, Rel. 17.0<img ALT="" SRC="" WIDTH="8" HEIGHT="1"></font> </div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" COLSPAN="2" HEIGHT="1"><img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="395" HEIGHT="16"></td> </tr> <tr> <td WIDTH="166" VALIGN="top" ALIGN="left" BGCOLOR="#003366" HEIGHT="1379"> <div ALIGN="center" STYLE="width: 176; height: 735"> <table WIDTH="166" BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" ALIGN="center"> <tr> <td ALIGN="center"> <p><img ALT="" SRC="" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="15"><font SIZE="2" COLOR="#99CC00" FACE="Verdana">SPONSORED BY: <br> Vita-Mentality</font><font SIZE="1" COLOR="#99CC00" FACE="Verdana"><br> <img ALT="" SRC="" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="4"><br> </font> <a HREF=""><img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="137" HEIGHT="78"></a><f ont FACE="Verdana" SIZE="1" COLOR="#99CC00"><br> <br> <br> <img ALT="" SRC="" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="4"><br> <img ALT="" BORDER="0" SRC="" WIDTH="176" HEIGHT="131"></font>& lt;br> <font SIZE="1" COLOR="#99CC00" FACE="Verdana"><img ALT="" SRC="" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="15"></font>&l t;font SIZE="2" COLOR="#99CC00" FACE="Verdana">New 2003 Lexus GX470</font></p>
