lexus gs430 : Of course, I understand that there will always be those who areunhappy with any given car or dealer, and that the model I'm lookingat is new (RX330) and somewhat unproven, but I'm looking for anoverall feeling of quality (both mechanical and fit & finish) of Lexuscars and dealer experience (if anyone has info on dealer experience atLexus of Greenwich, CT, specifically the service dept., it would begreatly appreciated). Also, I have a particular question/concern about the seats. AlthoughI've seen photos of the interior, I don't know if the seats in theRX330 are the same as in the RX300, or if they've been redesigned, butwould like to know about the comfort of the seats. Although this isprobably mostly subjective, I'm concerned because the seats in myVolvo are extremely uncomfortable, actually causing my tailbone tohurt after a while, and also providing insufficient lumbar support. If anyone has test-driven the RX330 (or if the seats are the same asin the RX300) and can provide feedback, this also would beappreciated.Anyway, I guess I'm a little gun-shy. I purchased the Volvo on itsreputation, as well as to "trade up" from my former car, but am nowfeeling that I spent filet mignon money and wound up with a hamburger.
lexus gs430 : Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks inadvance!I've been a Lexus customer since 1992 and it's been a stellar experience. Inlate 1999 I felt the urge for a new coupe and since the Lexus SC430 was 18months out, I picked up a brand new Volvo C70. I thought it was a safe movesince they supposedly had a good reputation. My experience was a completenightmare (including the CD error). Dealer service was terrible across threedealerships. I had so many problems that they ended up buying the car backafter much arguing with their regional rep.I buy a new car every couple of years, I will NEVER consider a Volvo again,no matter what. I went back to Lexus (GS430) and since then a SC430 and Icould not be happier with Lexus service. No BS, no hassle they just takegood care of me.I kick myself as I should have known better and never left Lexus in thefirst place, it was my desire for a new coupe that pulled me over.. Neveragain. My first new car was a 1960 Volvo, fast and built like a tank, then a '62 Iraced and used for work, two 68's, we drove one, a stationwagon ($3.495.00 new)all over Europe for six years and it was in the family for 19 years, again fastand bullet proof. Then came a 1975 164E, absolute junk. The interior fellapart when exposed to sunlight, doors broke, windows failed, the engine wastrash and the transmission went out and it took four weeks to get a replacementthat worked. lexus gs430 : I have a 2000 RX300 and it's great, no problems except for an inept dealer thatcouldn't follow instructions. Luckily we have more than one dealer in Atlanta. The seats are comfortable on long trips, the mileage is about 24MPG on trips,18 in the city. It's a great car.I still try Volvo's from time to time and still think they are over-pricedjunk.I traded my Volvo S70 GLT on an RX300. It was like going from problem cityto dream land. The Volvo had a minor problem every week I owned the thing. It had a bunch of major problems and a rotten selling dealer. In fairness Idid find two good Volvo dealers for service and both were very good. The RX had a couple of problems that included a brake caliber replacement asthe most serious. The Lexus service department is excellent, the peopledon't have their hand in your pocket every time you appear for service. The Lexus dealer was great, the car was perfection. Two things I learnedwere never to buy another Volvo and to buy my new GX 470 Lexus. lexus gs430 : Nice cars but don't keep them too long. Big trouble..."DonB" wrote in message...What does that mean? Our '92 LS400 is almost 12 years old and there has beenno "big trouble" and not even much in the way of "little trouble".-- Steve Barr (philosopher, poet, humorist, chemist,Visual Basic programmer)"stu" wrote in message...Huh? I have a '98 ES. Not only haven't I had one trouble with the car, butafter 5years on the road, I don't even have a single rattle - notone!.........It's rock-solid and trouble-free.I wouldn't even consider any other car brand. That could change some day,but for now I'm hooked.Lexi are great cars. However, you should be aware that the variable valvetiming V-6 used by Toyota and Lexus has given trouble with oil gelling/poorlubrication. I think this is caused by an over-ambitious recommended oilchange interval combined with that variable valve timing mechanism beinghard on oil. My suggestion is if you get one use synthetic oil and keep thelong interval or use dino oil, but keep oil change intervals down to 3,000miles. Beyond that, expect a superb experience overall. lexus gs430 : 2002 Toyota Tundra Limited (800 miles)1999 Mercedes Benz 320 wagon (29k)Let's see. I currently own a 1995 Toyota T-100 SR5 4x4.
