infiniti parts : Yes that is my hope also, I started this group because I was amazedthat no group existed for infinitis at all, yet there are Deawoo,Honda.type-r etc groupsI only have 66000 on mine now, but I know sooner than later the timingchain issue will come up at the higher miles. The first sign oftrouble is a "marbles on sheetmetal" sound for the 2-3 seconds duringcold start up. I would be interested to know how your chains soundafter 150K miles since a Q I looked at before mine rattled loudly whenrevving though the RPM range when hot (a pretty advanced case at thatpoint). My Q had an Infiniti rebuild at 48K miles with a new radiatorinstalled at the same time (required by Infiniti to validate warrantydue to trans cooler within radiator possibly being contaminated by thebad trans. I have flushed the trans with Mobil 1 synthetic fluidseveral times (since only 50% is drained each time, due to torqueconverter).I have a TSB CD ROM for the 90 + 91 Q45's an have found that a TSB(Technical Service Bulletin) was issued for the 91 cars regardinginadequate cooling of the trans, and an added trans cooler by the bellhousing. Its interesting to note however, that the VIN #'s covered bythe cooling problem do not include the 90's which you would thinkwould be the most troublesome due to the first year issues, etc.
infiniti parts : When the infiniti dealer installed the trans in 96' , they did notinclude the extra cooler (since I have a 90) I have often wondered ifthe late rebuilt Q transmissions were modified to eliminate the need, and the extra cooler was a temp patch.Another TSB involves the driveshaft center bearing, infiniti hasissued a new driveshaft bearing design that requires replacement ofOh, not to get off on a speed rant, but, I've felt the 155 cutoff morethan once. This is the first japanese car I've owned that felt solid at120+ speeds. And, before some P.C. Knucklehead smarts off about drivingfast, and killing people, it was across Texas, Flat, straight andwonderful, i would NOT recommend the same thing in Louisiana. The runfrom San Diego to Vegas is too much fun if you have a chance to make it.But I may have spoken too soon on my lack of problems, the sunroofdidn't want to close tonight. I think a motor/gear has gone out. Myunderstanding is this is not a rebuild option from the dealer, theyquoted me 1K for a replacement. Anybody disassembled thier sunroof yet?I'd appreciate any pointers. I'll also try to put together a pictorialon the ordeal. Taking out that headline will be REALLY interesting. infiniti parts : Concerning the tranny cooler, A tech told me they incororated a runningchange in 92 to the unit itself, but mine went out again anyway (post 92replacement) so I'm not sure what the real problem is. Be sure to shoparound for parts. Buying the tranny and Radiator over the net saved mebig $$$.Just checking in: '90 Q45 135K miles/new tranny at 115K. where iseveryone finding their used Q parts at----especially the tranny's?also, anyone had their power antenna go out? found a used one for $120on the net, but seems kinda steep.put the new air filter on from Jim Wolf tech and its great. gives adefinite pickup at about 50-60 mph when you downshift. How aboutstereo's? anyone replaced their Bose with something else? I hate tolose the OEM look by going with something different, but getting tiredof fixing those blasted Bose amplifiers.I have a 1990 Q with 96K miles.I had my sunroof do the same thing (not close) a couple of years ago.The local Infiniti dealer fixed it replacing the cables on both sides(since the labor is the driving factor) for around $500-600. infiniti parts : Now I am going to need a new trans. Full power 1-2 shifts are bad.Engine goes into the rev limiter @ 7000 RPM before the shift, & theninstead of going right down to like 4000 RPM, it goes to like 6000RPM & then slips down from there. Also when I manually pull it back into second gear @ 40-50 MPH, mostof the time the revs drop to idle as if the car is in neutralinstead of going up to 3000-4000 RPM.The local dealer wants $3000 w/o the radiator or controllerupdate. A local rebuild shop wants $1500-2000. Infiniti ofScottdale wants $1600 for a rebuilt unit. What other prices has everyone paid. Where have you guys got themfrom on the net? Is my failure common?I got my tranny from Gabe @ Coral Springs Nissan. I'm not sure if he isstill there, but you could give them a call. They are located in, (Betyou could guess) Coral springs Fla.Here's the info from the reciept:Gabriel Jimenez (Service Parts Guy)Coral Springs Auto Mall9330 West Atlantic BlvdCoral Springs Fl 33071Tele 800-992-4079Fax 800-753-7888 infiniti parts : I paid about 2K for a rebuilt tranny, 425 for the radiator from Gabethe dealer charges were as follows:Labor $568 (8 hours)Tranny Fluid $15.00Antifreeze $19.46The full dealer quote wasTranny 3816Radiator 635Labor 8 hrs (560)Fluids 15.00 & 20and just to deluge you with all the related info, here are the phonenumbers I got when looking for parts:Stacey @ Radiator Hotline 800-723-4286x244Wholesale Radiator 800-629-2665Nissan Only Wreckers 800-649-9936Gator Parts 800-252-6662Infiniti Parts 800-452-8798Modern Engine 818-409-9494Central Infiniti 800-247-9421Usedautopart.com 800-76-partsmobilepartswarehouse.comdire ctauto.com 518-583-7279 (findpart.com)worldparts.comThe "improved" trans (post 92') unit died too !!?? My trans has 17Kmiles on it, and is a Infiniti factory rebuilt unit. Was your post 92'trans a factory rebuild, and how long did it last? - thanksMy second tranny was also a rebuilt from Infiniti, the 3rd unit was not,it was from some shop out of washington state I believe. But you say yours expired after 17K? I thought all the infiniti rebuiltunits came with a 18month/18K warranty? You may want to check on that one.My trans is working perfectly at the 17K point, but I was curious howmany miles your second (Infiniti rebuilt) tranny lasted,
