Their carshave more problems, more trips to the shop for repairs than I have had onsome of my worst cars.My Infiniti G20 in 50k miles has been in once, for a rattle on the rearpackage shelf. That's it beyond regular maintenance. Do you understandjust how much that quality feature alone is worth to me? Do you realize howmuch effort it takes to bring a car into the garage when you work for aliving?Yeah, whatever. You seem awfully defensive, attacking the Infiniti with aseries of lies and falsehoods.For me, I decided I wanted a car right now and was unwilling to wait untilnext year for the manual tranny to be available on the G35. Although here'sanother point for you... The manual on my G20 is better than that planted inthe Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Much better clutch feel, it's not nearly asnotchy and so forth.

Orperhaps it was the research from JDPA showing that new Volvos have moreproblems than the *average* new vehicle? Finally, maybe it's the comparisontests from the various car rags where the S60 T5 gets its ass kicked handilyby everything from BMWs to the new Infiniti G35?You can expect your S60 to run for 300,000 km like your Sunbird but withprobably $8000 in repairs. You will be on a first name basis with your Volvoshop guy and you will help him put his kids thru college. But the Volvo willrun 300,000km.

Iremember the last time I looked at a 3 series at a local BMW dealer I wasamazed at how cheap the interior looked compared to our 10 year old LS400.With reliability as the subject we can get more concrete. Looking in Aprilmy 2002 Consumer Reports auto buying guide issue at the Infiniti listings Ifind two models the g20 and I30. The G20 has a limited sample with manyyears missing. The I30 data set is complete. There is not one black or halfblack dot. Not one since 1996, the year the model came out. (Same for theNissan Maxima.) Comparing the 3-series for the same time period, we find twohalf-black dots (electrical and power equipment). Conclusion: both BMW andInfinity/Nissan do a fine job on reliability with Infiniti/Nissan a littlebit better for a lot less money. You don't even want to look at Audi. Blackdot gulch for the A6. The MB C-class similarly has black dot problems.Nissan/Infiniti have recently had a near-death experience with very softsales due to goofy management decisions. That sort of thing tends to focus acompany and early signs are that we are going to see some very good thingscoming from the company. High performance, very reliable cars at very goodprices.

Myparents have a Saturn LS, and the controls are in about the same positionbut on the left side so that you hit them getting in and out of the car. Onmy G20 they are on the left side and hard to reach. No memory seats, I justdon't touch them much.

If so, ironic as the Maxima was a stand-out in that area.Also, how is the OD gearing? ie what RPM's at normal high-way cruising speed? I've read some complaints abou that on freshalloy.net. One thing I don't understand is why Nissan goes so dark with the blue exterior color. It appears even darker than my Midnight Peal Maxima; I was hoping they would lighten it similar to that mid-blue of BMW; I think it would have looked good on the G35. In daylight, you almost have to see the Twilight Blue next to black to notice the difference.All the models on my dealers lot were G35 leather; none less than 32.5K MSRP. Only one out of six had the "sport" package; only one had Xeon headlights. 4 silver, 1 black, 1 blue.Assuming MSRP on the G35, this works out to around 6-10K over a well-equipped, rebate-enhance 2002 Maxima...worth it? only the test drive will tell.I found the insrument lighting quite good. It is lit up whenever theengine is running and has plenty of contrast. I dims automaticallywhen the headlights come on.
