infiniti car : My bother has a Glastron outboard (so did we prior to the MC). Whenever hecalls ours a boat, I jokingly say, "it's not a boat, it's a MasterCraft". Fillin the name of your favorite brand inboard for a similar effect.Inboard Mastercraft ....1. Did they marvel at how impossible inboards are steer when backingup?2. Did they stay seated (so that they were not pitched overboard bythe low slides)?3. Did they rejoice at the inability to trim the boat for efficienthigh speed running?4. Did they enjoy the pounding (more like hammering) I should say fromany rough water?5. Did the driver enjoy the cramped driving position?6. Did the rear passengers enjoy the spray that was thrown all overthem?7. Did the front passengers get seasick from facing backwards?8. How many wakes spilled over the bow and soaked everybody while youwere out?9. Did the tow line decapitate anyone?10. Did you point out that for $30 ANY inboard/outboard can have a hotwater hose?Ken...Fond memories of my old Mastercraft 190; but it is an excellent SLALOMboat. Can't argue with that! Isn't specialization wonderful? Want tohear about how great my Corvette is (even though its just asimpractical as your boat the other 90% of the time).=====================In article (KENGIBBONS) wrote:
infiniti car : Low slides? It isn't necessary to make every turn a full power, wheel to the limitget back ASAP type of a turn. If you don't want to throw yourpassengers out of their seats just slow it down a little. Everyoneshould be seated in any ski/run about type boat anyway. My old tournament boat (1978 Pro Am) had a bone jarring ride in chop. My new boat (2000 Air Nautique) handles the chop quite well. They havecome a long way in hull design. Never had a passenger complain about sea sickness from facingbackwards. In the days before I had a tournament boat, I had a lot ofcomplaints from observers attempting to sit backwards in a forwardfacing seat. This is a result of having a fairly low bow, which is definitely adouble edged sword. The low bow sure improves visibility at the risk oftaking a wake (generally your own) over the bow. I have done the samething with a low profile outboard boat, so it is not a problem exclusiveto tournament boats. If you are pulling off the center pole, it is a three passenger boat(four, counting the skier). I will occasionally let someone sit on thefloor facing backwards, leaning against the engine cover. Otherwise, ifthe boat is that full I just pull off the rear eye. infiniti car : Another good thing about a tournament boat is the swim platform. Itis so easy to get in the boat, or to prepare a beginner skier whilestanding on the platform.I'd like to add another thing about the excellent tournament swimplatform is there is no prop underneath to worry about when the kidsare jumping off of it and playing around. Before I had a Tournament boat, we had an I/O, and getting in the I/Owas very difficult. Using the little platform and ladder was justabout impossible because you had to reach up to the handle to helpPULL yourself up. After I finish skiing, I can't hardly pullanything, let alone my body. To get up on the Tournament boatplatform, I push down with my arms to get my knee on it. Pushing ismuch easier after skiing.I had a pretty nice I/O and it had good recreational skicharacteristics, but I've never wished I still had it. Even when justtaking out family and friends. The open bow tournament boat isdefinately the way to go for the best of both worlds (if you canafford it).Although I'd never go back, there are a few things I miss about theI/O that you didn't mention. 1) My I/O was so quit, that sometimes Iwasn't sure it was on when I was idling. 2) I could pull up to thebeach and trim the prop up so I didn't have to worry about damagingit. infiniti car : Is it just me or does the guy in the Infiniti car commercial look like he's been on Whose Line is it Anyway, once or twice. What's his name?? Jonathan something -- can't for the life of me remember. He also looks like an older version of the baddie in 'Something Wicked this Way Comes', that 1983 movie I saw ages ago and subsequently can't remember the plot of. Anybody care to enlighten me on this? It drives me crazy everytime that ad comes on; there's been several different versions of it already. The latest, I think, is the one where he shoots at the car with a toy gun.'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' (Brazil, Barron Munchhousen, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy)He was also in Jumping Jack Flash, Whose Line And many things I can't thinkof at the moment.Be that as it all may, I recently saw him act in the Home Box Office movie,"Barbarians at the Gate", which detailed (?) the buyout of the firmRJR Nabisco (NAtional BIScuit COmpany, for the trivia buffs).I forget the name of his character, but I recall that he represented a firmcalled "KKR" and had a ludicrously lavish home. His role was quitesignificant in the movie, which makes me wonder wether why he is stillpitching cars for a living (or maybe that IS the reason......)? infiniti car : Does anyone know the title of the piece used in the current Infinitiautomobile commercial, or the artist who performs it? I would love toget this song or others like it, but I don't know enough about jazz tojust go out and start buying. The Infinity ad has the middle section of "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck. Paul Desmond was the alto player, and the CD is called Time Out.The tune is "Take Five", but it's by Paul Desmond, and although "TakeFive" is on Time Out, the cut used is from a live version of the song. The cut used on the commercial is not from a live version of the song. It's the original Columbia studio recording.I've seen two different Infinity commercials that utilize "Take Five". One contains a portion near the beginning with the theme statement;another has a segment from the drum solo (with vamp). jackThe piece in the Infiniti commercial is called "Take Five", wascomposed by Paul Desmond and performed by the Dave Brubeck quartet andis on their Time Out album also available as a quality CD. You shouldbe able to find it in any record store with a decent jazz selection, usually at a discount.
