acura parts : Does anyone know if there is really any difference between parts labeledAcura vs. parts with a Honda name on them? The parts labeled ACURA are usually accessories, like floor mats, sunroofvisors, and cd changers. Most (if not all) of the mechanical parts of anAcura would come in replacement bags that say HONDA on them.Look closely at your Acura...like the windows, headlight/tailightlenses, engine covers, etc...they all say Honda on them.Well, waitaminute... I see "Powered by Acura" on a lot of Teg windows. Mustbe an entirely new motor, or maybe an expensive swap. (ahem, Im beingsarcastic)On Wed, 23 Oct 2002 12:05:14 GMT, "D. This is not knocking the upscale lines it is just that theymarketed differently in the states than they are in the home market. Way too many years back I did a college paper for an internationalecon class. The subject was Toyota Motor Company. In Japan, Toyotais like GM with dealerships for individual lines of cars, lets sayCorolla and Corona in one dealership line and Windom and Crown inanother, and on and on. While I did not research/report on Honda andNissan, I see no reason for them to be different.

acura parts : I have a 1989 Sterling 827SL, and I am having problems with the automatictransmission. It shifts almost radomly, starting, in wrong gear, downshiftswhen not accelerating, just driving, It also makes a grinding noise when youput it in drive, and barely engages in reverse. It will downshift into a lowgear at highway speeds and redline's the engine, I had a man claim to haverebuilt the transmission, and I'm not sure if he did or not; It would workfine for a while, anywhere from an hour and a half to 2 weeks, then i wouldtake it back to the guy and he would again claim to rebuild the tranny, thiswent on for about 6 times, over a period of 3 months. I finally got my moneyback and bought a pontiac, because I had to have a car. I was wondering ifanybody knew anything about Acura Legend/Sterling transmissions, could make aguess as to what my problem is, some people tell me it's a wiring problem, others tell me it needs "disassembly service" to know what's wrong with it. Iam desperate. And if anyone knows of any parts cars, I would adore them, aparts car for sale would be good. Also, I was wondering how feasible it wouldbe to replace the automatic with a 5spd legend tranny, assuming I had theclutch master-slave assembly, and the shift linkgage. Anyone who knowsanything, Please help me, I am $4000 in the red on this car and it just sitsin my front yard.

acura parts : Well, not exactly different sizes. They're the same size actually, but theback one has a black border surrounding the whole symbol. That's what madethe back one look kinda of bigger in a way. You'll know what I'm talkingabout once you take them both off. The best way to know if you have thefront & the back one is to look on the back of both of them and put the twobacks of the symbols together. If the prongs line up together then you gotfucked, if one of the symbol's prongs is wider than the other then you gotthe front & the back. The front one has wider prongs and the back onedoesn't. I saved both of the symbols, even though the front one is fuckedup. I didn't think the symbols were different either when I went down to thedealer. The guy said that they were and I thought he was just trying to makeme spend more by raising the price of the back one or front one. They wereboth the same price. $61.34 each, without proof of owning a Type R. Why theheck would they want to see proof, I thought the only proof dealer'sconsidered was $$$. Dumb. Don't you have more than one Acura dealer in yourcity? I never heard such a thing. That's the first thing I bought once Igot my '98 White Acura LS. Also, is your car white and what year? If not, then why the heck would you want the Type R symbols anyways? If you have ablue or black car, get the gray "A" symbol instead, that's the NSX one. Areyou going to get the spoiler too? That baby cost me $615.22 and $222.81 forthe dealer to paint the spoiler NH-538 and also to install it for me. Thedealer I go to treats me really nice and likes the idea of me making my carlook like a Type R. I went to another dealer and they thought I had the TypeR when they saw it. I guess because all the fucking parts are REALLYexpensive and all. To change the hubs from 4 to 5 will cost me about$1200.00!!! That's just for the hubs!!! Anyways, I don't think the dealerwants you to buy from AH, because their prices are way cheaper than anydealer. I only buy from AH when I just want regular Acura parts. I didn'tknow AH sells Type R parts. Do they sell any other parts besides thesymbols? I asked them about clear corner lights for the bumper and they saidthat they didn't sell them, so I said hummm, maybe they don't sell Type Rparts. Do you know where I can get the clear corner lights for the bumper? I need '98 ones.

acura parts : Thanks for the info. I forgot to call AH today, but will tomorrow...either way, the red"A"'s are in the mail right now. I'll see what they sent me. I don't plan any othertype R mods. I have a black GS-R and throught they would look cool. The gray logowouldnt look good on a black car..too dull in my opinion...the red will stand outnicely against the black. I already have the gen2 GSR badge in the back., and the "R"part is red and looks great...the type R "A" will offen a nice compliment to the redthat is already there. I plan to paint the calipers red. I think the gray logo wouldlook good on a green car, maybe blue or red.The Acura logo is NOT an "A" logo. Originally, the two vertical curvedlines (which don't connect at the top) represented the archs of a compassand didn't have a horizontal line connecting them. The NSX was the firstto sport this emblem. Prior to shipping the NSXs to the US in 1991,Soichiro Honda wanted to represent Honda in the emblem so the logo wasadded a thin horizontal line which appears in the middle. All the NSXsready for shipment had the older emblems removed and the newer ones puton. A Honda factory worker in Canada, who participtes in the NSX maillists, actually had one of the old emblems since he had to remove themfrom NSXs in Canada prior to delivery. The logo is actually an "H" andnot an "A."

acura parts : -> I've figured out that the CD Changer that Acura sells for the Vigor-> is made by Alpine. What I can't figure out is how to get the factory-> radio to go into CD mode. I know the controls are built into the-> radio. The dealer told me that once the CD changer is plugged in the-> buttons on the radio perform a dual function. Yesterday I went to a-> stereo shop and had them hookup a Alpine changer. There was power to-> the unit (the Vigor comes pre-wired for a CD changer), but we could-> not figure out how to get the radio to switch to CD mode!->-> Has anyone installed a CD changer in a Vigor? If so can you provide-> me with information on how to switch the radio to CD mode. Here's the deal on the stock radio. There's a din plug on the backwith a gray cap over it. That needs to be taken out and a cable fromthe CD changer to the din input(on the radio) are to be connected. TheDin cable can ONLY be purchased from your Honda/Acura dealer.Authorized Alpine dealers don't sell them. Did you buy the CD changerfrom the Acura dealer or retail?? That should be it, one simple cableand it should work. The panel of the stock head unit will sense theinput and should automatically configure the radio to work in dual modeso there shouldn't be other controller to run the disc player, or maybethere is. I really only know how the Single Disc factory Alpine works, but I guess the changer would be the same.
