2004 subaru wrx : Yes I know theres a loss through the driveline but that was more than typical. My 130,000 mile 1992 3800 made 100hp on the same dyno and its only rated at 170-175hp. Just think of how well a low mileage series II or sc Series II would of done. I'm kinda thinking this dyno might be off a few hp though. Is the Impreza that funky buggy headlight insect looking car? (blue jelly bean thing in the commercial?)Interesting sounding 4 cylinder at first glance but its Turbo Charged right? I seen old old 3.8's with twin turbo's making 600hp if you want to compair a turbo engine to a turbo engine. I hear a lot of bad things about the all wheel drive all the time cars though. They eat through tires like crazy. I think the system I seen that Olds started some years back is the best all wheel drive system. It doesnt drive all the tires unless one or 2 start slipping. Thats what everyone should be moving to I think. At $42,600 for a STi I think I'd much rather go for the new Vette (345hp and less stressed v8) which is sleak and sexy especialy when compaired to the Impreza if its what I'm thinking of... I know everyones got their preference in vehicles but I can find a lot of reasons for not buying a particular vehicle. If only they'd talked to me first. :-)

Here's a site which shows the newfront end:No you can't compare them like that; this is a stock turbo engine made bythe factory backed with a full factory warranty (actually bigger warrantythan GM's, 5yr/100000km), whereas the twin-turbo 3.8's aren't.Depends on the type of 4WD you're talking about. I find that FWD cars arethe worst on tire wear, because all of the activity is done by the same setof tires, steering and locomotion; that's why it's extremely important torotate your tires regularly on FWD cars. RWD cars spread out their workloadbetween the front and rears. Full-time 4WD is a bit like both FWD and RWD,so you'll have part of the locomotion being done by the fronts and a bit bythe rears, and all of the steering by the fronts; so you'll get more wear upfront with 4WD, but not quite as much as you'd get with FWD because not allof the locomotion is done by the fronts. Now, Part-time 4WD is different;PT4WD should only be activated in emergency situations, like in really badmuck (snow, ice, deep mud). PT4WD also has a dead-simple clutch-activationsystem that locks up the front and rear axles when in 4WD mode; when it'stime to turn the front and rear axles can't move at different speeds (likethey ought to), and the speed differential is made up by skidding the tires.This is not a problem with FT4WD, because instead of a central clutch, it'sgot a central differential which maintains the proper speed differentialbetween the front and back tires. All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is just a synonymfor Full-time 4WD.

Such as the GNX's and Grand Nationals (Regals)1986 GNX276 HP @ 4400 RPM 360 ft-lbs of torque at 3000 RPM That was pretty damn good for 1986 for any car.I know of someone that has/had a late 80's early 90's Audi or something like that. It would eat through tires, I dont think the front wheels were passive at that time. I think they all tried turning at the same rate of speed. I really havent had any problems with my tires on my fwd. They havent shown enough wear yet so I have yet to rotate them. I'm just waiting for the outside tread to show some roundness.As for the new subaru look it still looks weird but slightly improved on the headlights. It still looks like a ricers wet dream though with that whale tail and hood scoop. Since this cars not much bigger than a mini it looks to comical to me.I found some time runs on the net but I cant say that its 100% accurate (nothing ever is do to varible conditions and tracks) but it looks like its neck to neck with the "standard" vette.

I think $25,000 should be the price limit of that subaru. I guess that extra 18+/- grand covers the 5 year 100,000 mile warrenty. Kinda like what Kia does considering they dont cost anything to build. Eh...Kia, the Yogo of the 21st century only with warranties. lol :-) Oh one other thing to consider, a vette will most likely have better resale value 10 years from now and who knows what the vette will be worth 30 or 40 years! I dont know of any Subura's that have ever held or increased above retail value. My money's still on the vette. (if I'd ever spend that much)A couple I know just got rid of a Subaru Legacy Wagon AWD........Asidefrom waitng up to a month or longer for parts to come when they had itat the dealer ( in Pittsburg, PA ) they told me if you wrecked a tireyou couldn't buy one or two, you had to buy four tires at a time.

The Quattro back then was actually aseparate model, it was their low-production supercar, and it's a collectiblecar now. These days the name Quattro is just a trim level within all oftheir model lines, designed to play off the reputation of the originalsupercar. The Quattro supercar was a street-legal version of their WorldRally Championship-dominating car, which established Audi as a WRCsuperpower. So did your friend have a Quattro supercar, and if he did, whyis he worrying about the number tires it goes through, it should be tuckedaway in a storage area right now?
