2004 acura : I thought ME makes a lot more than $50K a year. In my company a brand newcollege grad with BS degree makes almost $50K a year.That kinda depends. At cal poly a BS in ECE will get avg of 40-50K. aME will get around 50-60k. I used conservative numbers since somepeople would go anal at me if i said 60K. There are some stories ofpeople with BS in ECE making around 80-90k though.Ahh, I somehow confused ME with PE (Professional Engineer), which takes atleast 5 years of working experience after receiving a EIT and BS inengineering.Back to the original subject, is $50K a year enough to afford a brand new$60K car? I just ran some quick numbers, with a $60K car, tax (includingluxury tax) probably run about $3000 (maybe more in some states). So with$63K out of door price, say 10% downpayment, which means loan will be$56,700. Finance for 5 years at 7.5%, the monthly payment is $1175.Insurance is probably going to run $200 a month assuming a good drivingrecord. That's heck a lot of monthly car payment for $50K salary.Should we do a poll of how much people make and spend on their car?Maybe that's a little bit too intrusive, how about just car-cost/annualsalary ratio?
2004 acura : Well starting next year I'll be interning at Boeing and making around 10$/hr. not a lot but for a intern thats damm good. From what I've seenBoeing hires interns after like 1-2 years. So that would be around2003. I should have enough money saved up for the down easily (~30%).The tax here in California would be closer to $5K. Insurance doesn'tcost that much for a NSX if u have a clean record and been driving forclose to 7 years.
